You have a choice when it comes to who you trust with your eye wellness needs. I have a passion for eye care and helping people see better so obvously I would like you to come to my practice!
I thought that it might help if I told you a little about myself:
I was born in Missouri, raised in Illinois, and returned to St Louis to earn a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering at Washington University. Deciding that Chemical Engineering was not really my passion, and that I should work in a field that was, I needed to make a change. I had always be fascinated by visits to my Grandpa, an optometrist, as a child. Thinking about this and the amazing complexity of the human eye, I realised that this could easily become a "passion" and that more than anything I wanted to do something which directly helped people.
I enrolled at the University of Missouri - St. Louis and earned a Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating at the top of my class. After completing a residency with the Veterans' Administration in Lexington, Kentucky I returned to St. Louis where I taught for a a time at UMSL and commuted to Columbia to work with Dr. Dellande. Dr. Dellande had a thriving practice in Columbia and I would later become his partner and later still purchase the practice when he retired.
In 1990 I moved to Columbia to increase my time with Dr Dellande and to teach at the Mason Eye Institute. Since 1993 I have concentrated on private practice, where I strive to build a team of great staff and provide the best eye care possible.
My wife Gail and I reside in Columbia and are proud "parents" to two miniature schnauzers, Bailey and Molly. I love Celtic music - my wife is not so fond of the bagpipes! - hiking and travel.
The last ten years has seen huge advances in lens design and manufacture and I feel it's essential that I and my staff keep
up with the latest developments and improvements so we can provide patients with all the latest vision care options. We do this in a variety of different ways including attending industry seminars,
conferences and formal and informal training. As a former optometry teacher I train my staff and we have partnered with Essilor - the leading lens manufacturer - and our optical lab to create a
comprehensive ongoing training program.
"Since Dr. Delande retired I have seen Dr. Kramer on his recommendation. The office staff is great, his assistant is great, and he is very thorough and takes his time to answer all my questions. No pressure to buy anything, but it's all there if you need it. All doctors should come her and they might learn a little about making the patient feel comfortable" Scott B.
An article about our move
Dr. Kramer joined Dr. William Dellande at his eye care practice on Broadway in 1987, Kramer, a partner for many years, purchased the optometry business from Dellande outright in 2010. Dr. Kramer chose to move his office for the convenience of his patients. The new location is a quick three-mile trip straight down Providence from his old office. Unlike the old location patients can park right outside the office, inside there is an expanded area for the selection and fitting of eyeglass frames and contacts.
Kramer Family Eyecare will continue to build upon the excellent reputation Dellande and Kramer, OD established over the years, offering comprehensive vision examinations, contact lens consultation and fitting, and other optometric services.
"Patient care and customer service have always been top priorities in my practice," Kramer said. "My team and I treat our patiients like we would want our own family members to be treated. Our new location allows us to provide the great service we're know for in a fresh new environment. That's a really exciting prospect for us, and we are thrilled to see new patients as well as those who have been with us for many years."
When it comes to clear vision, buying a pair of glasses "off the rack" just doesn't cut it - especially since each patient has unique requirements. For that reason, Kramer and his team provide patients with personal, professional and detailed advice. Kramer has also invested heavily in new technology "Over the years I have seen many changes, the most exciting is the new lens designs, the computerised devices ensuring more accurate measurements and retinal imaging. Combining this technology with our experience sets us apart from the big box chains".
A comprehensive eye exam can also reveal other health issues such as the onset of diabetes and high cholesterol, another reason Kramer Family Eyecare advocates yearly eye exams. Kramer believes in old fashioned service and providing every patient with the best options to correct their vision, having first given them a thorough exam. "You just can't do that when you spend 10-15 minutes with the patient" states Kramer.
